Dance Makers Collective acknowledges the Darug people, the traditional custodians of the land of Western Sydney, whose land we have the privilege to dance and work on.
European colonisation brought dramatic changes and disruption to Traditional lifestyle and culture. We acknowledge that the effects of this devastating disruption is still affecting the lives of the Darug people, many of whom still live in the areas of Parramatta, Greater Western Sydney, La Perouse and the Blue Mountains. We acknowledge their survival and resilience, and pay respect to Darug Elders past, present and emerging, and recognise their continuing connection to the land, water and community for over 65,000 years.
We as a collective will continue to work in a way that is respectful and reflective of all peoples that call this land home.
